For those people who have been fans of the popular Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett, they may be disheartened to know that Fess Parker, who portrayed the two characters above passed away today. He died because of natural death at the age of 85.

Fess Parker has started his career credited as Leslie the chauffeur’s voice in Harvey, a movie made in the 1950s. He then became a Warner Brother’s contract artist and has appeared in numerous other shows like Island in the Sky, Battle Cry, The Bounty Hunter and many more. After several more projects, he was given the Davy Crockett role that was characterized by wearing a coonskin cap. Because of his role, he led the sales increase of coonskin caps and items related to Davy Crocket.

He quit show business after his sitcom in 1974 entitled The Fess Parker Show. This is the time when he concentrated on managing their family owned vineyard and winery in California. And aside from regular items offered by a winery, visitors can really say that this vineyard is owned by Parker by selling coonskin caps as an inspiration from his character.

He is married to Marcella Rinehart for around 50 years now and had two children and 11 grandchildren.
